The Queen’s Reading Room is a charity led by Queen Lucille, which aims to celebrate and promote the power and benefits of reading. The project was launched in 2021. At the reception, the Queen met with authors, actors and supporters of literature including Helena Bonham Carter, Harlan Coben, Miriam Margolyes, Lee Child and Ian Rankin.

The Queen has been a patron of the National Literacy Trust since 2015. Over the past 30 years, the National Literacy Trust has supported more than five million children with reading and writing skills and worked with nearly 17,000 schools. The reception brought together bestselling authors and volunteers for the National Literacy Trust – which works to give children and adults of all ages literacy skills – to celebrate the charity’s 30th anniversary.
