Duchess of York * Katherine Low Settlement | On January 16, 2024, the Duchess of York visited the Katherine Low Settlement in Battersea. This year, the Settlement celebrates its 100th establishment anniversary. The Katherine Low Settlement (KLS) is a multi-purpose charity and community center. KLS was opened on May 17, 1924 by the former Duchess of York.
KLS supports after-school projects, and has a youth club for young people with learning difficulties. The charity also supports the young carers' project which offers respite to young people who are caring (often alone) for a parent with disability. KLS plays host to refugees and asylum seekers, home/school support projects, and Sure Start for families with children aged under 4.
