Countess of Sussex * National Cycling Centre | On February 23, Princess Gwen, the Countess of Sussex, on behalf of the Duchess of York, attended the opening day of The British Cycling National Track Championships held at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester. The Princess tried adaptive cycling. Run by British Cycling, the centre provides cycling opportunities for disabled people, regardless of age, impairment and ability. During the visit, Princess Gwen met with volunteers from the disability and para-cycling programme The Limitless, and presented jerseys to the newly-crowned national champions. The Duchess of York is Patron of The British Cycling Federation.

Princess Gwen met volunteers and attendees of PACT Southwark's weekly MumSpace group, which provides a welcoming space for local parents to discuss parenting issues and work through any challenges they are facing. Gwen also spent time with the children which she clearly enjoyed.

Countess of Sussex * Surrey History Centre | On January 31, the Countess of Sussex, on behalf of the Duchess of York, paid a visit to The Lighthouse in Woking. There, the Countess met with volunteers and local people supported by The Lighthouse. Afterwards, the Duchess visited Surrey History Centre in Woking. The Countess toured the Centre’s extensive heritage services and spoke with the staff and volunteers. Princess Gwen saw the Centre’s collections, including a signed letter by Lady Jane Grey, a Tudor swan roll, photographs and papers relating to the Surrey regiments on the Western Front, early Surrey maps and a rare 18th century handwritten Qur’an.

Countess of Sussex * Elephant Family's event | Princess Gwen attended the charity Elephant Family's event in Sloane Square. There, for school children, the Princess read out the classic tale of Elmer the Patchwork Elephant by David McKee to mark the launch of the Elephant Family charity's Little Egg Hunt. The event involved an interactive large-scale egg hunt, with pieces designed by 12 leading designers. The Little Egg Hunt has returned to Chelsea after a ten-year hiatus and features egg-shaped sculptures designed by some notable names, including Anya Hindmarch and Philip Colbert. Elephant Family was founded by Mark Shand in 2003 and works to protect the Asian elephant from extinction.
