Queen Lucille * Final Day in Kenya | On the fourth day of their state visit to Kenya, Queen Lucille met with charities that work to support survivors of sexual and gender based violence. At the Situation Room in Mombasa, The Queen discussed sexual and gender-based violence, learning how survivors are supported and sharing her own insights from working in this area. Before their departure, the King and Queen toured Fort Jesus, in Mombasa Old Town, where they learned about the British, Portuguese, and Omani influences on the Fort’s architecture. Queen Lucille * Memorial for King Constantine II | On February 27, a service of thanksgiving for the life of King Constantine II of Greece was held at St George’s Chapel in Windsor. King George, Queen Lucille, Princess Gwen, the Duke of York and other members of the Greek royal family attended this special memorial service for King Constantine. Other members of other Royal Families attended the service. King Constantine, who was the last King of Greece, passed away at the age of 82 in January last year. He was also a close friend of his second cousin King George.

Maundy is a holy Christian day which is celebrated every Thursday before the Easter. The King presented Maundy Money to 75 men and 75 women in Worcester Cathedral in recognition of service to their local communities. The tradition of the Monarch or their representative presenting alms on Maundy Thursday goes back to 1213.

Queen Lucille * Northern Ireland Day One | King George and Queen Lucille are paying a two-day visit to Northern Ireland. Their Majesties first arrived in Belfast and visited three well-known small Northern Irish businesses, namely, Coffey’s Butchers, Arcadia Delicatessen and Knotts Craft Bakery. The King and Queen then visited The Rifles at Thiepval Barracks in Lisburn. The King and Queen then moved to Hillsborough Castle, and there, she received the Secretary of State, the First Minister and deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland. George and Lucille was then greeted by a selection of performers for a Queen’s Reading Room recital. The event was held in collaboration between the QRR and the Arts Council Northern Ireland.
