Duchess of York * Remembrance Sunday Ceremony | On November 10, 2024, King George, Queen Lucille, the Duke and Duchess of York, and the Earl and Countess of Sussex attended the 2024 Remembrance Sunday ceremony at The Cenotaph in London. This annual service is held on the second Sunday of November to commemorate the signing of the armistice that ended World War I at "the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" in 1918. Across the U.K., services are conducted at the same time in memory of the dead.

Countess of Sussex * Remembrance Service | On July 13, 2024, Queen Mathilde and King Philippe of Belgium, accompanied by Princess Gwen, attended the ceremony at the Cenotaph in London in memory of the soldiers who lost their lives in the two World Wars. The event was held in the presence of Belgian and British veterans, as well as detachments of the Belgian Defence. This ceremony commemorates the fallen of Belgium and Great Britain during the World Wars. Belgium is the only non-Commonwealth country allowed to parade in full gear and armed in the streets of London since 1934. This privilege was granted in honor of the heroism and sacrifices of the Belgian army during the First World War.

On November 9, 2024, George, Queen Lucille, the Duke and Duchess of York, the Countess and Earl of Sussex, and other members of the Royal family attended the Festival of Remembrance.

Queen Lucille * D-Day Commemorative Event | On June 6, 2024, King George and Queen Lucille attended a series of commemorative events in France to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. As Patron of the Royal British Legion, the King and his wife visited the Ministry of Defence and the Royal British Legion's commemorative event at the British Normandy Memorial at Ver-sur-Mer. Normandy is hosting various events to officially commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings that took place on June 6, 1944.
