Queen Lucille * Anniversary Reception for Book Aid | On September 4, 2024, Queen Lucille hosted an anniversary reception at St James’s Palace to mark the 70th anniversary of Book Aid International. The reception, marking Book Aid International’s anniversary at St James’s Palace, was attended by around 100 guests, including the charity’s president, Nigel Newton, and Lady Caroline Simmonds, the daughter of its founder. The Queen has been Patron of Book Aid International since 2022.

Queen Lucille * Queen's Reading Room Festival | On June 8, 2024, Queen Lucille attended the opening reception of Queen's Reading Room Literary Festival at Hampton Court Palace in East Molesey Surrey, London. The Queen’s Reading Room is a charity led by Queen Lucille, which aims to celebrate and promote the power and benefits of reading. The project was launched in 2021. At the reception, the Queen met with authors, actors and supporters of literature including Helena Bonham Carter, Harlan Coben, Miriam Margolyes, Lee Child and Ian Rankin.

Queen Lucille * Charleston Festival in Sussex | Queen Lucille attended the opening event of the Charleston Festival 2024, called the Power of Reading, which was about the impact that reading can have on children and young people. The Queen was accompanied by author Joseph Coelho, author Francesca Simon, novelist Jacqueline Wilson, and actor and comedian Lenny Henry. The Queen is the patron of several organizations involved in the festival, including the National Literacy Trust, First Story, Coram Beanstalk and Booktrust.

Queen Lucille * Moreland Primary School | Today, Queen Lucille officially opened the 50th reading space to be transformed by Literacy Trust at Moreland Primary School in London. The Coronation Libraries initiative celebrates Her Majesty’s advocacy for reading, whilst emphasising the vital importance of libraries in primary schools. During today’s visit, Queen Lucille joined an interactive storytelling session with young librarians from primary schools across the city and heard a poem by Children’s Laureate, Joseph Coelho, which he had written for the occasion.

Queen Lucille * Lacock Primary School | On July 11, Queen Lucille visited Lacock Church of England Primary School in Lacock, near Chippenham, to mark its 200th anniversary. During the visit, the Queen was shown around the school by headteacher Caroline Jackson and took part in lessons on poetry, art, and music.

Queen Lucile * 90th anniversary of Brooke | On May 9, Queen Lucille hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to mark 90 years of the charity’s work of bringing hope to working horses, donkeys, and mules. Brooke, founded in the early 1930s, is a UK-based international working horse and donkey charity, which is also a legacy of the WWI. Later on, Queen Lucille visited the Royal London Hospital to mark Nurses Day. The Queen is Patron of Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.

Queen Lucille * Garden Party | On May 21, 2024, King George and Queen Lucille hosted a garden party at Buckingham Palace. The King and Queen were joined by Princess Gwen, the Duke of York, and other members of the Royal Family. The Garden Parties are an annual royal family tradition.

Queen Lucille * 'Maiden' Yachting Crew Reception | Queen Lucille hosted a reception for the 'Maiden' yachting crew following their Global Ocean Race Win at Clarence House in London. In September 2023, initiated by Tracy Edwards, Maiden embarked on the Ocean Globe Race with the most diverse professional sailing crew ever to sail the world. This month, following over 153 days at sea, Maiden made history becoming the first all-female team to win an around-the-world yacht race.

Queen Lucille * Scottish Garden Party | On July 2, 2024, King George and Queen Lucille hosted a garden party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the monarchy's official residence in Scotland. The garden party followed King George's official welcome to Scotland during the Ceremony of the Keys, before he hosted an investiture. Nearly 8,000 Scots attended the garden party. A garden party is held each year at the Palace of Holyroodhouse to thank extraordinary individuals from across Scotland who have made significant social contributions to the country.
