During the reception, the King and Queen welcomed more than 500 diplomats. The guest list included all ambassadors and High Commissioners from foreign missions based in London, former Prime Ministers, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, and other notable public figures.

The Queen met with bookshop owners, authors such as Alexander McCall Smith, and representatives from the Edinburgh International Book Festival, which has supported writers since 1983. The Queen gathered the group associated with literature as she began her official stay in Scotland with the King, known as Holyrood Week, which is shorter this year because of General Election restrictions.

Queen Lucille * QCEC 2024 Winners Reception | On November 21, 2024, Queen Lucille, Vice-Patron of the Royal Commonwealth Society, hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace for the winners and runners-up of For 2024, the competition theme was ‘Our Common Wealth’. A record-breaking 34,939 children from across the Commonwealth entered this year’s competition, with winners and runners-up coming from Malaysia, Singapore, and Uganda. The Queen presented certificates to them during the event. At the end of the reception, the Queen watched a performance by Ngāti Rānana London Māori Club. Ngāti Rānana, whose members hail from New Zealand, was invited to perform at The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2024 Award Ceremony.

Queen Lucille * Anniversary Reception for Book Aid | On September 4, 2024, Queen Lucille hosted an anniversary reception at St James’s Palace to mark the 70th anniversary of Book Aid International. The reception, marking Book Aid International’s anniversary at St James’s Palace, was attended by around 100 guests, including the charity’s president, Nigel Newton, and Lady Caroline Simmonds, the daughter of its founder. The Queen has been Patron of Book Aid International since 2022.

In the evening, the King George's oldest children, Prince Nicolas and Princess Victoria visited the Royal Collections Gallery along with 40 young people from different parts of the UK. King George and Queen Lucille accompanied their children, on the gallery visit.
